What is the prospect’s strategy and ambitions?

Strategy

• During the year the group secured a number of new long-term contracts
• They also invested for the development of new products and learning curves had to be worked through to establish efficient production processes for the manufacture of often lower margin products
• Despite the recently secured contracts, a long-term strategy will nevertheless be implemented with a view to securing additional and more profitable business for the future
• The group acquired SOTT Ltd, closed their regional office in Milton Keynes and transferred the resources to the SOTT Kettering base
• The company’s acquisition of SOTT Ltd has been successful and it considers to be in a good place to secure new kinds of work, particularly in the south of England

Legislative risks

• The sign industry is becoming increasingly affected by EU manufacturing standards and there is a need to keep abreast of these requirements. This results in the need to invest in additional accreditations and process reviews which requires additional overheads to manage.

Financial risks

• Their biggest challenge is that they are continuing to face even less favourable payment terms, particularly from the largest clients, with some now paying at 75 days rather than the 30 or 60 days they previously offered them.

Ambitions

• With more guaranteed levels of work in place, the Directors anticipate a steady and positive trading position for the year although are mindful that those production efficiencies must be achieved.
